The inaugural Big Wight Beach Clean event was completed on Saturday 25th October 2025.

The event was introduced by the club to celebrate its 50th anniversary year and to help clean up our beaches and open spaces, to bring club members together and to engage with our local communities. And that’s exactly what we did for the first event which not only brought together numerous Wight Dolphins in addition but also members of the public, Kaydene, Kenzie and dog, Kenzo.

The clean took place at Bembridge Lifeboat and after an hour of cleaning, a number of bin bags had been filled with discarded rubbish including an old canoe, a plastic owl and a number of discarded lobster pots.

Wight Dolphins will start planning the next beach clean (January 2026) and will also be looking to plan a sea clean (2nd May 2026) to remove rubbish not only from our beautiful beaches but also from the sea itself with the plan to make the island coastline cleaner and safer for everyone to enjoy.
