Gary and Jan Fletcher have just returned from a week’s diving in Sharm El Sheikh with ELITE DIVING SHARM which we highly recommend if anyone is considering a shore-based diving holiday in the Red Sea.
We had 15 boat dives ranging from wreck, drift, reef and wall, all of which were in a very pleasant 23 degrees C water temperature. The visibility was stunning and sea life amazing. The air temperature was a little bit higher making for an all round very enjoyable experience for divers of any ability.
ELITE is a Welsh company based in Sharm and they make the whole booking process and diving experience so easy. The owner (Alun) is a BSAC diver and instructor and has other instructors working for him who are BSAC and PADI divers. The organisation is second to none. Elite can book accommodation for you (or you can organise your own) and they will arrange airport transfers and daily pick-ups and drop-offs for the diving to and from their own boat which was a large boat with loads of room for diving equipment and relaxing.
When we went (3rd to 12th March 2026) it was coming out of their winter and as such some of the larger sea life hadn’t yet arrived. But there was a plethora of beautiful reef fish, corals, barracuda, napoleon fish, groupers, turtles, sharks, rays, morays and even a pod of dolphins. The photo opportunities were amazing.
The guides were brilliant. Their briefings were easy to follow, informative about the dive sites and very entertaining. But they were always the ultimate professionals underwater.
The dive package is based on 2 dives a day but we had the option of adding a third each day. It was all very flexible and was completely tailored around what we wanted. We ended up adding not only the odd additional 3rd dive but an additional day’s diving!
These are some of the dive sites we experienced – the local ones were Ras Nasrani, Ras Bob, Wight Knight, Temple. And in Ras Mohammed – Jackfish Alley, Shark Reef and Yolanda Reef. In Gubal we completed a dive on the Dunaven wreck where we entered through the stern at 30m, but it felt so light and airy and very unlike diving in our waters! There is also the option of diving off Tiran.
We had a fabulous time, and we will be making this trip an annual one.
